Our faculty is committed to Riverside’s mission; a commitment to developing well- rounded students with the ability to contribute to society and envision a better future. As a result Riverside has adopted the “Whale Done “ philosophy as a part of our behavior management program, developing well- rounded children in a positive learning environment. The power of positive relationships in building trust, accentuating the positive and redirecting negative behavior is what it is all about. Children receive “Whale Done” tickets in the cafeteria as well as a variety of positive reinforcement “whales” tangible or verbal throughout the day. Children are rewarded for doing a “Whale Done” job on their work or for displaying “Whale Done” behaviors throughout our campus. A “Whale Done” catches children for doing things right!

Children are redirected when they do something incorrect. They may be asked to observe another student doing the right thing or may be re-taught the skill until they can demonstrate the “Whale Done” behavior on their own. Redirecting diminishes the feeling of lack of self worth and trust. We are focusing on creating situations that build positive relationships and behaviors in order for our students to be happier and more successful in their daily lives.

We encourage you to take the opportunity to discuss this program and philosophy with your child, as well as adopt a “Whale Done” system for your home if you choose.
